- > Definition: ‘Fairy tale' is an English term for a type of short narrative. In fairy tales, you can find folkloric characters like fairies, goblins, trolls, giants or gnomes and usually magic or enchantments.

> History: A lot of English tales became famous like Alice in Wonderland, The 3 Little Pigs and Jack and the Beanstalk. But you also know French tales like Beauty and the Beast, Little Red Riding Hood and Puss in Boots. Pinocchio is Italian and Snow White has German origins.
The most famous fairy-tale writers are the English Lewis Carroll and Joseph Jacobs, the French Charles Perrault, the German Brothers Grimm and the Danish Hans Andersen. They first published their work in the 18th and 19th centuries.
In the 20th and 21st centuries, Walt Disney, Warner Bros, and others adapted a lot of tales into television series, films or cartoons.
