You’re going to take a virtual visit of the Met.
Hi, it’s Edmund again! Do you like my painter outfit? Art is not only in museums, it’s also visible on the Internet, thanks to the Google Art Project. How about visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, or the Met, together?
On this online platform, the public can virtually visit international museums. The virtual visitors can also learn more about the displayed artworks, and create their own virtual collection. The project uses Google’s Street View technology.
The first version (February 2011) consisted of 17 international museums’ collections such as the Tate Gallery, London or the Frick Collection, New York City … The second (April 2012) offered an access to over 32,000 artworks from 46 museums.
What’s more, Google added a series of educational tools.
